Our tropical wedding at the Canciones del Mar exceeded our every expectation. We had 38 guests who were also amazed at the absolute beauty, organization and atmosphere of the sunset beach ceremony and tropical garden reception.

The planning process itself went more smoothly than we had imagined. Of course planning a wedding in another country and trusting in the process is not the easiest of tasks. Our initial negative experiences with other Costa Rican wedding specialists left us in doubt and very anxious about our dream wedding. With peter and the staff of the Canciones del Mar our experience became a successful one.

We were able to make well- informed decisions during the planning process because of constant communication, a wealth of information and honest dialogue. By the time we actually arrived in Jaco there was little left to arrange, with the exception of sorting through the enormous variety and combinations of tropical flowers available for the wedding. Having no worries we were able to enjoy several sunny days with our friends and families prior to the big day, time we were able to enjoy with them on the river, on the beach, in the waves and in Jaco.

Our ceremony was performed on the beach before sunset during high tide. With the waves pounding to our backs and the palms stirring above us the amazing qualities of Costa Rica were in attendance. We can add that there were multiple possibilities for ceremony location and we had a difficult time deciding between the beach, the palms and the garden. The Canciones del Mar is perfectly situated for sunset photos and we took full advantage of the evening colors and settings available on the beach, among palms and in the gardens of the hotel. We had scouted out some locations out of town, but found the efforts a waste since there was so much beauty near the hotel. Several of our guests actually hit the waves during our photo session while others watched, sipping cocktails.

The reception was a true tropical party. Our food selection was anchored by Costa Rican fruits and fish and enriched by a flare of European cuisine influenced by the staff. We had both a mariachi band(for the ceremony) and a five-piece salsa band (for dancing) that set the atmosphere . Salsa moves were put on display that evening as everyone had a go on the dance floor. Draped with the abundance of flowers and growing darkness of the evening the party settled under the open tents we had selected. Rain eventually arrived at about 1AM, but as a welcome guest as by that time many of the guests were enjoying the swimming pool or sipping cocktails under the tents. A very active lightning storm added a wonderful finishing touch and left us in awe of the natural beauty of Costa Rica.

We have organized already two weddings right in front of our Hotel, right at the beach.

We would like to thank Jean Michael and Marina Landry and Heather and Kenny Miller, who used our facilities.

We have also rented out the whole hotel several times by big family reunions or anniversaries or special occasions and we think we have the perfect place for you if you want to be in a private setting with only your familiy or friends since the hotel is very private and small enough to have the whole hotel for yourselves.
